I think I was talking to Stinger about a bb stroker. Keep in mind deviations in heads, cams, timing, etc. will yield different numbers. All of the machine work was done with torque plates, checked and re-checked, balanced rotating assembly and file to fit rings and cams degreed with a comp cams degree kit and ARP everything.
This is a 438 low deck. 383 block, .030 over, line honed and squared, slight clearancing of block and bottom of cyl bores for rod bolt clearance (only necessary if using stock-type rods, instead of aftermarket cap-type). Forged 440 crank with mains cut to "B" size, counterweights cut to clear block, "b" style rods, pistons with correct pin height for your desired compression (I used diamond pistons, but call them, they got'em on the shelf), I went for 9.5:1 with 906 heads template ported, purple shaft .484 hyd. M1 intake and a 750 holley vac. sec. , hooker comp headers (pn 520-5903 for my old satellite) and a Mopar ignition conversion kit (orange box). 425 H.P. at 5,200 rpm and 466 ft. lb. at 4400 rpm. This is my bread and butter engine, idles good, don't overheat, fart, squeak or nothing, just crank and go! !thumb !driving
452 low deck. 400 block same machining and crank prep but on this one I had the lifter bores bushed for a solid cam I blocked off the oil pickup inside the block to use and external milodon swinging pickup setup, just wanted a little extra insurance. RB rods, template ported 452 heads, same ignition, cam with solid lifters now (I know, I know, ya aint supposed to do that but I did!), induction and headers, and again, diamond pistons that netted 10:1 (which was a little higher than I wanted, a miscalculation on my part ). 485 hp and 600, yeah, thats right 600 ft. lb., both @ 4000 rpm. Then I switched some stuff. Cam to a Hughes 6064bs solid and ran 1.6 rockers on the intake 1.5 exhaust on 84 cc Edelbrock aluminum heads, holley 800 dbl pump 72 pri. 85 sec. jets. 648 h.p. @ 5,870 rpm, 592 ft. lb. at 4,900 rpm. This is the engine in the Barracuda. !drive
Doing some changes on a 511 now, (Indy stuff) will see if I can break some stuff!! !drive

Curious as to how you get 438 cubes with a 383 bored .030" over and a 440 crank with "b" rods? Did you mistype that number? I'm at 431 with a 383 bored .030" over slinging a 440 crank with 6.76 "RB" rods? T.P.

TNT 440, Part# P4120437 will get you a template kit, I think its like 20 bucks, just follow the instructions. This isn't a mondo port job, this is what I would call a level 1 port job. Get your die grinder, preferably electric, various cutting heads from your local speedshop and remeber the cutters are different for aluminum heads than iron. I practiced on junk heads until I felt comfortable cutting on my keepers.

pietin440, checked back with my partner in crime, the 383 was a .060 over 383, sonic tested. Sorry about the mis info. Trying to do to many things at one time.
