BTW - 20-50 oil is way too heavy for a hydraulic roller cam in a big block. 10 - 30 is what I have been told by a smart person is the heaviest oil you want in this combination. Now is that good enough for protecting the rest of the motor? - I don't know.
The problem is that these lifters are so heavy you can't rev them past 5800 rpm or so, and many times they do want to go way above that (DAMHIK). The heavy oil makes it much worse because the lifter can't fill the heavy oil fast enough.
How high do you rev the motor? Could you have failed the link due to severe valve float?
I have $1200 invested in a Lunati hydraulic big block cam setup that has very little time on it that I pulled out of the motor and no idea if I will repurpose the cam or what I will do with it but it was a nasty failed exercise..........
The motor never sees 5800. The rev limiter is set at 5600
Kim/ken? At 440 source told me to run tbe 20w50 with the clearances they build into their crank and rod combos.
It is my understanding that there are different oil requirements for certain manufacturesr particular roller lifters, and that some say 10w30 is maximum.
However these particular comp cams lifters are not one on them.

That is a frickin’ bummer man. Have you contacted them with your issue? They may throw you a bone....a big company like that can trace lots back to when they were made. Who knows, the mill mighta had a bad run that day. It might also be chineesium / they might tell you to pound sand, but worth reaching out IMO.

Yes, they basically told me "Sorry, 1 year warranty" To which I ask them if they really expected their roller lifters to fail so quickly, and he said something vague like "well not everyone knows how to assemble a motor" I said " these lifters only physically fit one way" He said he could not do anything. So I will not be using comp again.

That's when you write a letter to the president of the company or call him. Some years ago I was in my office and got a call from Jeff Stang (president of Strange Engineering) apologizing for their poor customer service and gave me what I was looking for at no cost. Wilwood on the other hand can pound sand............
