For months my car has been stumbling, hesitates and coughs, mostly off the line. If I floor it, it will cough, pop and sometimes stall. I have to accelerate slow. Don't know if this is a thermoquad thing, or dirt in the carb or something else?
At first I thought it was bad wires, so I replaced them. Then after driving well for a few days, it started again. I replaced the plugs, and while doing so was shocked to see that two of the plugs were actually loose. Again, it ran better for a little while.
I have other things planned, like replacing the cap and rotor even though they look fine ( and I use the ones with brass contacts), and fuel filter.

I replaced the coil last week, and the fuel filter yesterday. Driveability and starting seem to be better buy it's still doing the same thing where it coughs and stalls. At higher RPMs it seems to run more on the normal side, and usually responds to full throttle. But it could be the accelerator pump.
The round thing is the see-through plastic fuel filter. Notice I took out the alternator to get to it.
