I am wanting to use my existing Spindles when doing a front disc brake conversion on my '66 300. It was supposedly originally a Disc Brake car but, when I bought it there are drums on the front.
The passenger side spindle has 265 stamped on it.
Does anyone know if this would be a Drum brake or Disc Brake Spindle based on that number?

If there are drum brakes on it now, then they are drum brake spindles. There are conversion kits available (from Scarebird?) to mount disc brakes onto the drum spindles, but there is no way to mount drum brakes on a disc brake spindle. It it had factory discs and someone converted it to drums, they would've changed the spindles.

You can also do the SSBC route for brakes as you don't have to change anything except your Master cylinder. And, if you want to keep your 14" instead of having to get 15's if you go with the Scarebird kit.
Quick note on the SSBC (I have it on my '66 NY): They say you can use the drum booster but my experience says no, upgrade to a disc booster. Also, they say you can use your 14" wheels but in my case that wasn't exactly true, I needed to put a wheel spacer in (I think 1/8") to clear the caliper. Plus, I don't know if you can even get 14" tires these days...

Yeah, I did to have to go with spacers, makes no sense? I called SSBC about that and all they could do was scratch their heads on that one.

I called scare bird a while ago about the using 14 inch on the disc brake kits. Their responses all kits take 15. I would love to find the details about the kit that allowed 14 inch even with the spacers to keep my 14 inch because of the hubcaps
