OK, I have always seen red 318's in Dodges up thru 1969. My 69 Wanna-Bee had its original red 318 in it when I bought it. My 69 Fury on the other hand came to me with its original blue 318. I have seen more 69 Plymouths with red than blue 318's. What gives??? Could it be late year 69's were blue and early ones were red? My fury was built in Aug of 69. It must be one of the last to be built for the 69 model year. Could this be the reason for the blue under my hood?
You are patially right in assuming the red/blue thing. As I have read about it, the red engines were predominately Canadian engines and the red was carried on until 69, my fury had a red engine, but another 69 has a blue engine - both 318's. I cannot confirm this beyond what I have read, but it's ma Mopar, known for her strange quirks here and there, sometimes for no apparent reason. Perhaps they wanted to give restorers something to talk about 35 years down the road??!!

I can't say I have ever seen a Red tree18 in anything after 68. Maybe the real early 69's were red until they ran out of Red? What's the production date on the car? Maybe that will give us a clue.
Butch, I gotta' come down to Keentucky and see that. Mine will probably never look that crisp, it's a daily.

Thanks Steve! It did come out pretty good. The owner spared no-expense as long as I could find that elusive trim piece or whatever. Between his car & mine I bet we cleaned out a bunch of NOS
The best thing is he actually drives it all the time in nice weather. The only one of his cars his wife likes to ride in cause its quiet!
