Hi all, I have a 64 new Yorker 4door, 413 all muscled out. Here is my problem, I have the push button transmission and want to put a floor shifter so I can manually shift off the floor. Does anybody have any information on what shifters will work with this application since there is no parking gear. Thanks. Kurt.
While i can't tell you about the shifter (finding a correct shifter). You might be able to find one from a Sports Fury or other model. Here's some info on the 62'-65' 727's.

'64 300 models came with a cool looking center console. You might want to try and locate one. I bought one myself once for my '64 NY. These consoles only work for '63 and '64, not '65 and newer as the shape of the dash changed.
I can definitely say youll have to get something from a yard car or ebay, or oem replacement parts for a console floor shift car from napa or whoever....
I looked deeply into making my 65 tranny floor shift (62-65 all the same, push button column or console) and I found very little stuff, unless you went and found a car somewhere you could rob it out of. the early 727 cable operated internal shifting mechanism doesnt have any friendly aftermarket parts.
of course you could do what I am doing, and just get a later model 727 cheap, have it rebuilt to handle your motor application and any future engine upgrades in the quest for more power, and just get a good floor shifter for it. I got an American Shifter Co dual action, it is awesome.
now this is making me wonder what the super stock and altered and factory lightweight wedge car guys were using when the 727 hit it big with the clean shifts all the way down the track.... maybe they just rocked the push buttons? thatd be an interesting combo with a manual valve body and a shift kit!
