You could make a respectable running car by swapping the little 318 out for a built up 360: they'll pump out plenty of torque to make that a fun ride. good luck-hope you win it!
Didn't they arrest folks in Kasas back in the day? If not, I see why there was no need for a four door! NM had some nasty laws for out of state drivers in the 60-70's: If the statey pulled you over for speeding and you had an out of state liscense you got hauled in (and your car towed) to court. If you didn't have the money to pay the fine, off to the clink you went untill you could make arrangements to get the money. They finally figured out it was killing tourism and stopped that nonsense in the early 80's.
I lived in Phoenix AZ in 1978 and once had a NM statey follow me the entire length of highway 60 from the AZ border to I-25 at Socorro at 55mph....that just plain sucked! I don't think he liked the look of my hopped up Duster...(I wish I still had that one: aligator vinyl top with sunroof, fold down rear seat, 340, disc brakes)

Why would i win the car? I'm the one selling the car. Early in the thread I posted a value question. Anyone have any thoughts? I have a complete 383 drive train out of a 70 fury parts car I was thinking of offering to who ever buys the car. The interior was originally blue but is was so bad I could not save it. So I used the some of the parts from the parts car and died the door panels gold to match. I don't think it matters much as to the value of the car, its what I had available at the time, so I used it to make it into a decent driver. I am thinking about putting a buy it now on the auction but that's like putting a cap on the bidding. 10 days isn't a long time unless your waiting to see what happens. UG! The suspense is killing me. lol P.S. My apologies to the members On the other site. I was out of line.

Sorry, brain burp. I meant to type please explain the RB to LA engine swap.
How about this for a scenario;
State Patrol retires car in mid 70s, car gets auctioned to the public, someone buys it as a cheap daily driver just like retired cop cars today, they drive it for 4-5 years and blow up the motor in the early 80s, they go to a junk yard and buy a 318 and tranny because its cheap and gets better mileage than a 383 and drop it in, they drive it a few more years until the tranny fails and park it out behind the barn for 20 years. Some mopar car guy hears about it or sees it sittimg there and and ends up buying it. Buyer keeps it a few years with dreams of a restoration but finds something else more important and lists car on eBay. 40 plus years later people are interested in it because of its pedigree as a cop car. I dont think there would be near the interest in the car if it was not a cop car. Being 2 door cop car, in a good color, with the original paint, makes it pretty special.
billy the scenario makes sense except for the junk yard bit. This is not a straight drop-in, you have to modify the car to accept the LA engine if it's B/RB from the factory. It's the reverse of upgrading from small to big block.
