You guys must be running the Performer series carbs which are a Carter AFB. I'm running a Thunder series 800 cfm which is a Carter AVS, on a stock 440 Magnum and have had no issues what so ever. It's very tunable and after playing around with it have reverted back to the jets and air bleeds it came with out of the box.
I'm glad you spoke up on that. I also run the Thunder 1813 (800 CFM) on a stock 440 and have wondered if it's too much carb for that motor but don't have any real evidence either way.

John, once my hardtop is back on the road we should swap carbs for a week or two. I have the Edelbrock AVS 650 and always wondered if I should have gotten the 800 instead.
