The 67 New Yorker has a lot of rust in the tank. I have 2 filters, 1 before the pump and 1 at the carb. The 1 before the pump last about 5-600 miles before it plugs up. The one at the carb , I get about 1k out of. I also get a lot of air in the fule line. Every thing is tight and no leakes. Do I drop the tank or go with a fuel cell? What all is involved in droping the tank. never did it before. I have had 3 fuel pumps on this summer and I still get the air bubbles. The motor is fuel starved during speeding up and when the passing gear is used.
I think you 67 uses the same tank as the 69, which is being repoped for about $200-$300 depending on if you like Frank M or not. This is about what it will cost to have one boiled and sealed. And then you don't have to worry about the sealer seperating.

Repop tank is best, fresh & clean! Re-use the old straps, nop reason to replace unless they're damaged. Not available for our cars but I bet the B-body 68-70 might work.
Climb under the car & see how many vent tubes it has first. on the backside by the axle housing. Should see the sending unit & then over to the drivers side should be vent tubes un;ess your's doesn't have any. They sell the tanks with none - 2 or 4 vents configurations.
Reuse the filler pipe at the rear also. might want to get a new sender gasket & filler pipe grommet also. both avialable.
Unless the straps are rusted to the point of having holes, they will clean up. Sandblasting would be best. Mine cleaned up perfect with a quick sand blasting.
Spectre Premium is repopoing the tanks, but doesn't sell direct. Goodmark is one of the main dealers, they run $350. Frank Mitchell is selling them for $200, that is where I got mine. Frank has a rather dubious reputation and some people despise him, however I have dealt with him a dozen times with no problems.
The new tank will include a sending unit ring and gasket.
Hardens Muscle Car world will have the J-Bolts and filler grommet cheap.
I got my sending unit from Inline tube for $75, much cheaper than most. It is for a 68-70 Body and fit PERFECT. I opted to step up to 3/8". It also had the return in it for a electric pump. There was someone on eBay selling them for $25 at one time, a couple people here bought them and I think they turned out OK. But haven't heard lately. The ebay one didn't have a return.
If your tank is anything like mine (a 65 NY), its a cinch to drop the tank. You need to make sure it is fairly empty or it'll be heavy as hell to move. You need to disconnect the + terminal of the battery and then you crawl underneath disconnect all of the hoses to fuel sender and vent hoses, unscrew the filler neck from inside the trunk (a phillips head screwdriver) and go back underneath the car and follow the straps to the front of the tank. There should be two bolts holding the tank up (one for each strap) unbolt those and voila!
I, at the time it needed it, did not have the re-pop option available to me. This was back in 1999. So my choice was actually a no brainer. Go with the Gas Tank Renew service offered at my local radiator shop. Boiled the tank, fixed any pin holes, removed any dents, sealed the inside, and sealed and coated the outside surface. Straps were good and re-usable and the "J" bolts were purchased elsewhere. The sending unit was re-conditioned and new ring and filler neck grommet purchased. New lines were added from tank to engine and all has been right with my 66/300. Now though you can pretty much find everything re-popped and available. That is what route I am taking on my 66 B Body project. Check out www.gastankrenew.com as an option
