I was joking a little, but yes, both happened. The bottom hose was on the wrong side, I got fed up of looking for a rad that would fit, so pulled out the welder!
I mentioned on another thread that I'm building up another engine at present, when I fit that, I'll be doing a mod to the core support that should be interesting.

Since it seems that I can still get a new stock-appearing CU332 rad that uses an OEM shroud, I am leaning towards getting that instead of the Explorer rad or other options. I really wanted to know the tube spacing/density to determine if the CU332 is actually a good deal relative to other new copper rads I've found.
U.S.Radiator "OEM style" rads have tube spacing of 9/16" and their "high efficiency" rads have spacing of 3/8".
I just called SP's tech support and discovered that the CU332 tube spacing is 7/16". That means that CU332 comes in between the two US.Rad options, but closer to the "high efficiency" model. [ Edited Thu May 03 2012, 02:15PM ]

I guess Rock Auto must've gotten more Spectra CU332 rads in, because they showed stock online. I just ordered a CU332 rad from them for $180. They have TWO MORE left in stock if anyone else is interested. I also found a 5% discount code online: 7EB3CCC67254
It's a good thing I was paying attention to the shipping charge. I went to add an upper hose to the order, and the shipping jumped up by $30 plus the cost of the hose! I'll buy an upper rad hose from a local supplier instead. It's got to be cheaper than that!
I looked online and a few people said that UPS/FedEx doesn't charge any extra cross-border brokerage fees now that Rock Auto collects the taxes up-front. Hopefully that is the case, but even if it's not, the best price I could find this rad for locally was $370 +tax.
I still need to find a shroud for this. #2785435 should be correct, if anyone has a spare that they'd like to sell.

Update: Got the CU332 rad. Fedex didn't ask for any COD fees when it arrived. It's a perfect fit on my rad support. Would still like to find a shroud to fit it.
I also got an upper rad hose. The "correct" hose is a Gates #20355. I know that the parts place I usually deal with carries Dayco hoses. I went to Dayco website and did a cross-reference search. It said use Dayco #70469, with a note that it's not an exact match but "close". This is a hose for 1986-94 Ford fullsize vans (E-150,250,350). Looks like it will work fine.
