hey guys, I've been poking arround for quite some time and decided I should finally let you in on what I'm doing. Let me start off by saying thank you for all the great info I've recieved from this site to help me with my first build. A little bit of background, my car is a 70 ply fury Gran coupe, originally came with the 2bbl 383, pwr steering, brakes , ac and that was about it. Windows were broken out, the vinyl roof had created a nice little home for rust to grow, you could see the floor through the trunk, qtrs, and fenders. All pretty typical for mopars around here. Ofcourse I just had to be different from all the other cars around me so I decided to build this one up. I'll list everything i can remember below, but feel free to ask me any questions. will try to get some pics asap.
Engine: -fully balanced 383, 30over -8.2:1 compression -custom ross pistons -eagle h-beam rods -re-ground stock forged crank -custom grind comp cam(will retrieve the specs tonight) -weiand dp intake (will be swapping for single plane soon, just had one laying around) -ported 906 heads w/ stocksize valves. upgraded valves, springs
Fuel: -barry grant mighty demon 750 blow-thru carb -aeromotive a1000 pump -aeromotive boost fuel pressure regulator(cant remember the model) -aeromotive Billet Electric Fuel Pump Controller -aeromotive in-line filters -summit racing 20gal cell w/ 2inch sump -lots of hoses
Ignition: -msd pro billet dist -msd6-btm -msd blaster-2 coil
Brakes: -ssbc front disc conversion, will likely do the rear as well if I can afford it -ssbc adjustable prop valve
Interior: -black leather race seats up front, recovered kia bucket seatsblack leather in rear -4point roll cage -rci 5point harness for fronts, 3 point belt for rear -black carpet, headliner -hand-built fiberglass dash, center console, and rear deck, all covered in blk leather, with small painted accents(no flashy stuff, just nice clean lines) -Auto meter ultra-lite 2 guages -full custom sound system(brands tbd) -grant steering wheel
Body: -removed side trim, emblems -shaved door handles, trunk key hole -smoother bumpers, removed rubber -no more vinyl roof(fixing that rust sucks) -2-1 headlight mod in progress, lo and high beam will be in outer lights, inner 2 lights removed and in their place will be 2 stacks that go to the turbos, still will have the flip up doors -hopefully will go into paint soon after I finish the qtrs, will start off black at the top and fade to a dark, dark shadow gray on the bottom(painted interior accents will match this dark gray color)engine bay, engine, frame, most all black with the gray accents.
ummmmmm.........
-black powdercoated 03 ford cobra rims w/ 275 mickey thompson drag radials rear and 275 toyo proxes front
uhh..............
oh yeah..Turbo set up: -2 garrett to4b-s3 .96 a/r (want to change to something bigger, again had them in the shop) -gozilla bov -tial wastegates -currently building custom headers and piping. hot side powdercoated black, cold will match the gray once again. -still up in the air about the intercooler, but I'm actually trying to patent a new design thats much smaller and easier to place than a front mount, and no big ice box or coolant hoses that you get with most water-air units. I know someone made one to run off your a/c, but I dont have a/c now and neither do any of the all out race cars, so it does me no good. will keep you all updated on that - I'm making a custom built exhaust for it but dont know which way I want to go, I was going to do a side exit right before the rear wheels by making custom rocker panels and having rectangular tips go through those to follow the existing body lines, or I can just go straight out the back. Tell me what you all think, i've got ideas either way
I cant remember anything else right now, but again if you have questions, ask away. I'll do my best to provide pictures and updates as much as possible. Also, I'd love to know your opinions on what I'm doing with the car. I know some wont like the number of changes I'm making, but i pretty much saved the car from the crusher and it was pretty much dead, everyone said it couldn't be fixed, so I figured I had the right to have some fun with it. believe me, if it were in perfect, good or even somewhat decent shape when I got it, i wouldn't have started chopping it up.
The nice thing about the exhaust mounted just before the rear wheel and pointed towards the outside of the tire is....when you are in the bleach box,the exhaust blows all that tire smoke everywhere !banana It,s great for burnout contests !thumb .Sounds like an interesting ride, have you had much experience w/tubos in the past?..I'd love to see some pics.Glen

Your motor is pretty much what I have had in mind for my car. Give me your address so I can come get it. !thumb Seriously though I would really like to know what kind of power you end up making with it. Sounds like an awesome project. Pictures please.

That's what I have in mind too, except that I have slightly bigger turbos and the headers already made. And a little more cubes + EFI. Haven't started the turbo buildup yet, except for the headers and injectors in to the intake, but will within a month or so. hoping ot get it to dyno before March 2007, and expecting about 1300 hp with 15 psi.
My 70 Fury build up will have,...High compression hubcabs (14.5:1) bored out ashtray (.60 over). Ported, and plished A/C vents, and highrise seatcushions. As you can tell Iv'e done this before...I'm no armature. LOL

I guess it all matters on how you want to use it! Street or strip? On the strip.....as we all know.......turbos need RPM to get full power. With a 3,000 stall and 3.55 gear, your 60 foot on a heavy car will be "somewhat" weak. Once your past the 60 foot mark, and the turbos really "kick-in", you should take off like a C body outta hell! It is hard to call out 1/4 times on that car. Wheel spin should NOT be an issue from what I'm calling out.
On the street.....more so freeway.....you should have "cop car killer" speed and response. I've always grown up with the: "INJECTION IS NICE....BUT I'D RATHER BE BLOWN" thinking that SUPERCHARGERS RULE! !thumb Turbos are cool, AND more popular these days thanks to rice burners that constantly deal with high reving 4 bangers, but dual turbos on a big block do have "eye candy" appeal! Have fun.....AND GIVE PICS.....HMMM? Tony P.
