Was giving the 68 fury a hard look and my factory steering wheel stinks big time. Want an aftermarket wheel but looking at how deep the "dish{?}" is it look like the average aftermarket wheel would almost touch the top of the dash. What can I do?? Also what mopes should I be looking at to get a tilt steering column that will fit without me refabbing the whole car. Thanks in advance.

A wooden steering wheel with a deep dish would look period correct as an aftermarket wheel. You can still buy them new or in a wrecking yard. Some specialty wrecking yards even hang on to them for potential buyers. A tilt/tele steering column from a 66 to 68 C body will bolt in.Depending on options, the wiring may be different for the turn signal switch.(I.E> cornering lamps, cruise control, etc, etc.)
However, the tilt/tele only came with one style of wheel and I have not seen anything that would work with it. [ Edited Sun Dec 17 2006, 07:11PM ]

Bob's probably gonna kill me for this. . .
As soon as Clair send up the wheel, he's going to learn how to wrap the wheel for the Polaraco. Instead of that skinny thing, He'll wrap it in vinyl with padding. If all goes right, he'll make it look like these wheels we see on todays cars.
Maybe when he's done with mine, he'll be interested in wrapping yours. He'll have it mastered then. . . Well sorta' OK, So I have to pay him T and M. . .So you benifit from my pocket book.
