Anybody have any experience running the early 60's 383 Dual Qaud manifold with two 1405 Edlebrock carbs? I have this setup laying around and thought I would see how it performed on the 383 in the 880. Probably won't perform as good as the single four but the cool factor is something to consider.
I think the hard part would be setting up the throttle linkage to be bearable on the street. I used to have an old dual 4 setup for RB's that I was going to put on the 440 in my Dart for a while. The linkage was so cobbled together that I sold it before jacking with it much. The trick is to make the rear carb the "primary", with the front carb opening second, and then usually both sets of secondaries opening at the same time. That was generally how the factory did their 2x4 setups, and you have to play with the lever ratios a bit to make that work. You COULD just do a 1:1 ratio so that both primaries open up at the same time, but that makes modulating the throttle tough.
BTW, good to see another BOG'er on the Dock, Steve!
KMO'N,go for it.I bet if it's set up properly, it will perform great. The WOW factor is like,WOW.I'd throw one on my lil' ole 340 if i had one sittin'round my garage.Glen

Oh Mannnn Clair is right about that. There is some special Chrysler tools I am waiting for so I can set up my 300H. I messed with them over and over again before we tore the car to the frame. What a night mare. Those tools probably will work on the Elders. But I have to get them first!
I'ts nice to share with another group but my heart will always be with the Cuda's. This whole C-body adventure has really turned out to be a blast. If the dual quad set-up is to much for the ole 383, I will probably build another with some more hp this winter. This car is beggin to boil the tires.

Loved my dual set-up,looked great(nice wow factor),ran really good, and the sound of 8 barrels opening was music to my ears. They were faster than my stock manifold-750 holley(14.86-14.65).But,once I put on the Performer RPM manifold the contest was over. Dual quad-2 500 AFB-14.65,2.00 60' RPM-750 Holley-14.37,1.95 60',nice mid-range power
