I was wondering if any of you have any experience with these transmissions? My stock 727 has about 130,000 miles on it and I am looking to either rebuild or replace it. This upgraded transmission would definitely meet my needs as far as an upgraded street car and it costs less than rebuilding mine. I have never heard anything bad about this particular company, but that is all from magazine articles...I was hoping for some real world experience.

Here are some real world opinions from Moparts. I built my own TCI streetfighter with their rebuild kit and like it. Not so sure if I would trust thier assembly.

wow thanks for the link! It seems like people either love them or hate them. Since my engine build is not extreme by any standard I think I will give this transmission a try. I already have a brand new 2500 stall converter sitting in the trunk and a B&M shift improver kit I can throw into it if it doesnt shift like I want.

When I needed the uprated trans for mine, I mailed to a number of companies in the US, and wasnt so pleased with them.
The one that was chosen ended up being purchased from SMR transmissions in Canada. I cant speak highly enough of the service that I got, or the quality of the build. Living in Europe, if someone makes a mistake over there, it ends up being costly for us. The guy that runs SMR, Pat Storey, made sure that no mistakes were made.
Although i've had a TCI trans with all the bells and whistles (deep aluminum pan, upgrades to internals, etc). It never failed me.I got it from a guy when i picked up an engine,so i bought the engine and tranny for a smokin' deal.I sold it to someone who i did a complete 340 for,..it is still working great and that engine is making upwards of 425 hp. However,as both Butch and Uncle Joe have mentioned about Cope and SMR,these guys race what they sell and you won't find a better deal or better people to deal with.I've heard lots of pluses and minuses about TCI and all i can say is this one worked, but for almost or a few dollars more give Cope or SMR a ring. One area where they excell is in their torque converters. Stall speed is only one aspect of a converter. Here is where i would not use a TCI converter.

Said it many times before here...TURBO ACTION! Leader in valve body and torque converter tech. Reputation with Mopars is well known. Quality is second to none! Also hear A&A Transmissions is quality stuff to.
TCI is like going to K-mart to get auto parts. B&M makes good accessories for trans, but their converters and trans are barely better than TCI. Tony P.

The TCI tranny already has their shift installed. Don't try to put the B&M kit in it because the TCI valve body is already modified alittle differently than B&M does it.

I just checked out Cope's website...I am definitely going to go with there Super Street 727-2! The core charge definitely sucks, but it is worth it if it will outperform/outlast that TCI unit. Thanks for all of the input/help guys. After the tranny upgrade...time for new aluminum heads!! woohoo!
