Hi all, i'm after your opinions and estimates on my potential times down the 1/4, Chrysler 300 coupe, air, steer,p'windows,p'seat, 3.23:1 open diff, new 440 +30thou, balanced, six pack, dyno'd,but not fully run in at approx 450 hp. Any "guesstimates" ? It ran 15.6 with a well worn 440 last year. Are high 13's too ambitious?
Mid to high 13's are reasonable if you get a good start and don't burn that right rear wheel off with your open rear end !! It takes lots of practice to get a good run (shift points/track and weather conditions. etc.) you'll probably see a lot of mid 14's at first till you get the hang of it. IIRC, most of the six pack engines that were run on a dyno made 500 horsepower (a lot more than the factory 390hp rating) so once she's broken in well you should be in that ball park.
My light weight (3975 lb) '68 Newport Convertible with a moderately built 383 (approx 430 crank HP) ran 13.7 @104 mph. Since your engine has a lot more torque you should see similar times even though your car is heavier. [ Edited Tue May 04 2010, 12:27AM ]

Was the engine built with the heavy 6pack rods? In my opinion the biggest problem with the RB's is their relative inability to spool up due to the weight of all those beefy internals.
Once the engine "gets out of it's own way" it'll be a terror, no doubt. I find that "walking" an RB out of the hole let's it spool up and then you can punch it.
It leads to crummy 60 foot times, but with a heavy car on thin tires (if stock) the C bodies have a habit of sitting there smoking the tires.
I haven't drag raced in years, but those are my recollections.

Stockish 440's run pretty good at the track with 3.23's, sometimes guys see very little pickup with 4.10's, mostly cuz with stockish heads they don't breathe well enough to need more rpm. You should have enough poopoo to tickle the 13's if you can hook up.

Hey noosa,
Check the top 50 times for my effort, no.30 now.
Im running a 440, stock heads, baby Purple Shaft cam, full MSD setup, BG 850 Demon, 3.55 limo diff, mild 727 with 2500rpm stall, car weighs 2030Kgs with me in it, best so far of 13.89 @ 95.48 mph...I love making some of these HSV (chebby Brand-X powered rubbish we have in Oz) clowns look sad when they cant run me down with their LS-3 things!!...keep it simple, you dont need to waste bucket loads to go fast, 440 is a tough low down pwer house, my 60' times beat far lighter cars, best so far are 1.86. The big whale squats and goes! !drive !drive
