What a day. Still feeling it hehe.
Couple pics of me teching in.
Was crazy hot, depending on which Bank sign we passed on the drive down temps were 92 to 97 &| Poor car ran 220 the whole way there.
Here's me getting a few gallons of the good stuff, 110 ftw baby.
Look who showed up to watch? Hmmm looks familar...
While mine was cooling off, we got to play with Arlens 383 a bit, set up the timing and idle for him, and found out one of his vacuum plugs on his Edelbrock was leaking like crazy, had cracked and nearly fell off. I couldn't convince him to tech in tho
Had 2 hrs of test and tune before eliminations so went to work on mine after that. Aired down the DR's to 22 psi, shocks went on 7, and turned the timing back up to 36 total.
They had no water box and no track prep early. Which was fine, I was cautious as to how good it was gonna hook and was only wanting to work on my launches and maybe sandbag alittle for the other guys watchn.
To my suprise, first pass netted me a 1.76 60', ran it out to the 1/8 and coasted it in. Got in another 3 passes and to be honest it was brutal, spun like crazy 1.96 to a tire shredding 2.14 . The DR's have almost no recovery compared to a real slick, so I was gonna have to pedal it some in an attempt to get it to hook if I was gonna go anywhere in the rounds.
There was roughly 50 or so cars in my class. All motor, mostly LT1/LS1 F body's, glutton of Mustangs, and 2 old school rides. Mine and a real '70 GS Stage 1, with a few upgrades, Stage II heads, different intake/cam, 1050 dominator, 9" with 3.73's on DR's. Real clean car, best pass that I witnessed was a 13.4x at a tire frying 106.
Round 1: Nearly stock LS1 Camaro on DR's. Turned out to be Arlen's buddy who I think actually called him on his cell as we were staging telling him he was screwed lol.
My 12.37 @ 110.8 to his 13.7 @ 102 MOV was 1.17. He had a good light and I was worried about not goin red
Fast forward nearly 2 hrs, had to sit thru almost an hr and half of burnouts, bleh, crowd loved it, racers were getting ticked.
Outlaw guys musta complained, cause they prepped the track after that for a good half hr.
Round 2: Another bolton LS1 car on ET Streets. Both of us were snoozing again at the tree, with near identical .750's.
I had my best ET of the night, 12.15 @ 111 to his 13.41 @ 106. 1.76 60', ahh there we go, not spectacular but I'd take it. MOV 1.25 secs.
Pic of me coming out of the burnout box.
Round 3: Got the bye because of low ET for the previous round. Broke the beams and idled on down hehe.
Now a little back story. At this point there is 4 of us left. 385 stroker LT1 vert TA, 383" LS1 Camaro, and a 351" so he claims Fox Hatch who's won like 2 out the 3 last street nights here, and was definitly the favorite tonight. Turns out they are all in the same car club. All on ET Streets other than the LT1 bird which was on Nitto's.
Round 4: I had hooked good in the right lane previously so got up early to ensure I got the lane again. They ended up lining me up with the 383" LS1 Camaro. I knew I was gonna have to cut down the tree, as this guy was quick, I had watched a few passes during the test and tune and he had gone 12.40's so it really was gonna be a toss up if I spun at all.
I absolutely burned down the tree. 0.5031 reaction time to his 0.5230. 12.20 @ 111 to his 12.62 @ 108. MOV was 0.45 secs. Hell yes.
That left the Mustang vs the TA, which shouldve been pretty straight forward, as the Fox had been running bottom 12's in the heat, 12.20-30 car. But Yeep happens and he left in second and the TA sqeaked out the win. Both running 12.50's, TA won with a 0.040 MOV.
Turns out, his club wanted him to toss the race, so the Fox could have a shot at me in the finals. Guy was pretty bummed, he didn't expect to win but ran it out anyway, and got his club all mad at him and he was thinking they were gonna kick him out It's too bad, clean car, cammed up real nice.
Round 5: Theme of the night was Street Wars, so with that in mind, the finals were supposed to be best 2 of 3 with a flag girl starting. Due to time contraints we were approaching 2 am at this time, everyone agreed to go 1 run, we got to stage the cars using the tree, but had to let the tree burn down, then watch for the Flag girl do her thing, ala Pinks. Now I have been once or twice to a few illegal street drags back in Edmonton, and on the street you learn to go fairly early, with the motto if you chase its a race.
So with that being said no way was I getting left on the line. Turns out I really didn't need it. Car hooked then kinda chattered the tires and hooked again, but had him in my mirror by half track. Unfortunately no slips for the last pass.
Got me a trophy and $250 cash for my efforts. I do have to say all night was I getting mad props from guys coming bye and telling me way to stick it to the new muscle lol.
Last 2 pics, of me, my sunburn, the car, the trophy and the cash.

WOW! You should have been an author with that story! I did not, nor would anyone here guess you would have it in you with all the "short" comments you make on the DOCK! Just kiddin'! Well.....part kiddin'!
This sounds like a fun night! I wish I could have been there! Congrats on your kills! You deserve it! Remember.....I'm no F-body! LOL!
Good advice? Use that trophy for firewood, use the $250 to buy yourself a new set of M/T drag radials aired down BELOW 20 psi, and really kick some butt! BF's are JUNK! I know, I had some!
Car still looks great! Wish I had paint! I guess I'll see it again next weekend? By the way.....who's car is the red one again? I forgot! Tony P.
