Hey All
I need to swap the power window motor but have heard that due to the tension on the spring I could lose a finger or give my hand a good hurt when I remove the three small bolts that holds the motor down.Does anyone know of a easy way to do this or is there a video kickin around out there..

hey dude i just did 4 in my 67 monaco 500 im sure there the same. if you need some moters a good place to look is in 80s vans there the same. only diff is the plugs. as for the tuff spring hold it with your hand with a glove and wate till you get to a spot where you can put a screw driver in the hole in the arm that the moter hooks to and find a spot in the door where it will hold it for you. its a little hard but i did it 4 times and it got easier as i went. but by all meens be careful. and look at it before you start. its a big help to plan! because my hands were sore for a week after i did that job!!! i did not use gloves!!!! stupid! good luck and hope i helped!62dinosaur!!! tim.

If you can get a pair of good vise grips in there you can clamp the sliding gear against the body.
Also if you look closely you might see 2 or 3 small holes, size of a pencil, in the body of the rotating piece. If you can get a small screwdriver into one of those and then lower the window it will hold things as well.
But yes use gloves and be careful. I got my forearm caught in a rear quater when I removed a power window motor. I had no one around and it took me almost 1/2 hour to free myself!!..... !stars
Most mopar products from 60's to early 90's have the same motors.

Not sure what you've done so far, but I find the easiest is to remove the regulator from the car with the electric motor still attached. Makes it much easier to see where the arm with the spring needs to be restrained.
I've used bolt/nut through a hole, or a couple of C-clamps to hold things in place when actually removing the motor.
