Will the rotors from a 77 Cordoba work on a 66 Newport? I have a friend that is willing to give me the parts for the conversion, providing it will work.

No. But do you have disc brakes already on your car? Are you looking to do a conversion?? If you are looking to do a conversion, the B body set up will not work. Different geometry in the steering knuckles (which is what the calipers bolt onto)--plus there were two different disc set ups on late B body cars.Floating calipers, and pin-type calipers. The rotors bearing races will be different diameter compared to your drum brake bearings You can buy a complete kit that converts your drum brakes to discs using drum brake spindles. Or The most popular conversion is scoring a complete1973 C body disc set up and steering knuckles that bolts right onto your 66. Cheers

Thanks for the info. I'm looking to do a conversion and a friend and I were just going over it. He said h had a 77 Corboba that I could have the setup off of if it wold work. No since in having to pay for it if I can get it for free, so I thought I'd ask.
Another stupid question though...why a 73? Is it just a matter of availability? I mean, I know discs were an option in 66. Just wondering. [ Edited Sat Dec 19 2009, 07:49PM ]

This is the scoop as far as I know - someone please correct me if I get any of this wrong...
'66 was the first year for discs as an option on the C-body as far as I know. '66 to '68 C-bodies (and some '69 Imperials) used 4 piston caliper discs made by Budd. These are troublesome as the replacement parts are expensive and hard to come by. '69-'72 C-bodies used a single piston disc setup that are OK but the rotors are fairly expensive. The '73 setup used a rotor that is a lot cheaper probably because it was used on later models (trucks?) That is why '73 is the most popular year to use for conversion parts. '74-'78 parts won't work because they changed the steering geometry.
