Does anybody know where to find a place to help me decode the fender tag for my 66 Chrysler Town & Country wagon? All the sites I've found with a search engine are not very helpful for a 66, or maybe it's just me &| Thanks for the help. Jeff
We can help some here, Hey! Have you looked under the bottom of the back seat for your build sheet? it's a gold mine if you find it intact. My wagon had 2 there, took out one, left one. It takes care to remove from springs. Good luck. MPJ

I've found Govier's book on fender tag decoding to be pretty useful.
Iron Worm, I looked at your website photo album. What kind of plug wire looms are you using on your Road Runner? They certainly make the wire routing look clean.

Thanks guys- I have to go out of town today so tomorrow I'll pull off the fender tag, clean it up and post a picture. I'll also pull out the seats to see if there is a build sheet in there somewhere. MIKE- the spark plug wire looms on the road runner are the Accel universal kits. I bought two of them and one Accel wire separator kit. I cut and welded them with my little wire feed to make them fit. They are cheap and available at Jegs, part #110-170056 and #110-170022. I'm sure Summit sells them too. I did it that way because I'm running an MSD 7AL3 ignition and don't want any crossfire. !drive

Thanks for the cool websites Jock. I still haven't been able to decode them. I found the build sheet under the back seat back. It's in pretty good condition so I'm going to post both the build sheet and fender tag. Thanks for the help everybody. My big question is: do I have a sure-grip and what ratio in the rearend? Jeff
TRM=L7T = L-low trim level, 7- Buckets cloth and vinyl? (doesn't actually list 7 as being for 66) T- Tan interior color.
PAINT=YY1 Y = The color of the car is Bronze Metallic. First Y is roof color, second is body color and the "1" is mono tone paint. Lat Y is the upper door paint, bronze metallic as well.
Next line,
AB=62- Engine 383 4bbl 325HP C5=Tranny- 727 Auto E1= Option packages, could be many things , doesn't break it down. G1=26" rad H1/M1= Power options. Could be Power brakes, and power rear window. R2=Radio- AM - Astrophonic Deluxe 5 1/2 watts S1= A/C with Heater. Y1=Roof/top color, Black convertible top? Guessing it originaly had the black vinyl roof treatment?
Last line...
c4=? d3=Rear option. Again could be many things. Most likely...Power bench seat? or Roof luggage rack? e2/f6= Police options. Again could be many things. g6=Mouldings, could be two things, LH outside remote mirror on door, OR Bumper reveal moulding? h7=Hood/fender mounted turn indicators. m3=Mouldings-upper door and quater mouldings. p6=Again could be many possible options, but I think it's wheel opening skirts.
That's what your tag says to the best of my ability.
Looking at your build sheet, pretty much spells the cars options out there.
But as for your axle, 3.23 open rear axle. So no sure grip.

Thanks Brian- that answered my questions. Sure do appreciate the help with this. I'm considering making the car my tow car for my 69 road runner and that's why I was hoping for a 3:55 sure-grip. I have a 3:91 sure-grip but think the RPMs would be too much on a long haul, especially with the 14 inch tires. Looks like it's destined to be my wife's daily driver. Thanks again for all the help. So far my luck has been good with the car. I went to the DMV and didn't even have to fight with them about keeping the original California black plates, it was almost too easy, they will probably show up at my door with Al Gore and demand the car be crushed Jeff
