Hi everyone, I got a 1968 Chrysler Newport this summer. The car is in great shape overall and I want to get a few things to keep it that way. I just purchased a set of floor mats from stockinteriors.com but I am looking for a good set of seat covers. Any advice? Also I do have a slight power steering fluid leak but I'm not exactly sure if it is the pump or the hose yet. If it is the pump, does anyone suggest a place I can get another? I want to try to keep the car as original as possible (without going overboard) becuase it largely is. Last question: The car has a 383 that originally had a two barrel. The previous owner put a 4 barrel (from a 59 or 60 Imperial), dual exhaust, and a mopar performance cam. The owner's manual says there are two types of champion plugs depending on if it is a 4 barrel or two barrel (different compression etc.) motor. Should I go with the 2 barrel suggestion since the car is originally a two barrel? Should I use a different brand than champion? I also need some wires for the beast. Someone suggested Taylor. Any advice on the best brand? Thanks and I am really glad I found a forum for just C bodies. -Matt

The p.s.pump leak can be the big O-ring between the pump and the reservoir can. Remove the pump, then pull off the reservoir can.take the big O-ring to your local hydraulics shop --or heavy farm equipment shop--and match up the O-ring. Make sure to use Permatex THE RIGHT STUFF to ensure a good seal. Spark plugs can be such a personal choice. However run the plugs for the 2bbl. The difference between the 2bbl and 4bbl applications is heat range--that's all. The 2bbl engine has 9.2:1 compression and the HP has 10:1. Both have zero deck height, use same heads and camshaft--with pistions being the only major difference. I run NGk's,AC Delco and Champions with no issues I use Neihoff wires since they were O.E. choice for Mopar back in the day. Also a good choice is Pertronix Flame Thrower wires.

I like Bosch Platinum Plugs #4036- they last a very long time and the heat range matches well (neither too hot or cold). I also use Mopar Performance plug wires from Summit or Jegs.

As far as wires, cap, and rotor etc I only use Mopar on my 83 D150 and any Mopar (all I have) I only use Champions, I haven't had good luck with anything else DB69
