My car is a 68 Monaco 500 and the 440 is currently away at the machine shop for a rebuild. They will be installing a Performer intake and I want to reuse the theromquad. I also want to use the the factory dual snorkel intake. Will there be any clearance issues with the hood?
Just did the same thing on my fury very close but not touching have not driven it yet hopefully it won't hit under tourqe i will send you a picture of my set up Thanks Joe
It should fit with the Performer manifold (but not the Performer RPM). You may have to get a smaller diameter base from one of the unsilenced air cleaners and use the shorter (2 3/4") filter too, then drop the dual snorkel over top.
(That's what I do to fit my dual snorkel on the 383/ RPM manifold/heat isolator-this combo stands 2" taller than the stock setup, so the 3 1/4" tall filter for the dual snorkel is just too much.)

Not sure if this helps but a 5" K@N drop base filter just fits on my 383 with Eddelbrock Torqer 383 single plane and a holley double pumper. The 440 is a little taller than the 383 but Im unsure how much. Unless you are dead set on keeping it OG looking Id say just get an open element filter that fits and motor on happily.
Thanks Windsor56 (Joe?) Looks like I"m OK. The machine shop thought it was about stock height too. drchallenger1 the motor is 78 vintage out of New Yorker and the aim is to get the 440 back to a little better than 68 HP specs with good low end grunt. With a mild cam and some decking I should get there. The Performer should improve things up to 5500. The car will never get to the track.
