Chrysler 300 - Vert - I found a windshield for $227 - it will take 14 days but i am patient after working on the car for the past two plus years. The guy is not willing to install it and no one else will warant the glass if they install it. I have the new windshield rubber gasket and am wondering - Can I do this?
I am a do everything kind of guy but never considered this. Any advice and instructions would be greatly appreciated.

I did mine just a couple of weeks ago on my convertible. Besides the window gasket you will need a tube of urethane window sealer like 3M Window-Weld. You also will need a tool called a booger hook- it looks like an ice pick with the end twisted into a hook. Also some surgical gloves because the sealer doesn't like to come off.
Cover and tape everything nearby because the sealer gets on everything. Make sure all the trim clips are there and not damaged. put sealer INSIDE the gasket before it goes around the window. Lay the window in once dry to see if you need spacers on the bottom to center the window in the hole. Remove it and put a bead of sealer all around the frame. Drop in and press on the window as you pull the gasket over the fence with the booger hook. I also put more sealer around the gap between the window and frame to make sure there are no leaks. Try not to get sealer in the trim clips. I would install the trim right away to make sure it will go on.
I was able to stand inside the car and lower the glass over the top by myself. I don't trust those suction cups at all. Wipe all the excess sealer off with a rag soaked in gasoline. It worked ok for me.
I just looked at the manual and at the instructions on the Steele Rubber site. They show the use of a small cotton cord inserted into the slot that goes over the fence. Once the window is set in place they pull the cord evenly on each side to lift the edge over the fence as it comes out. I will get a booger tool as well. I already have a small set of picks with a hook on one of them.
65coronet7165 I can't say that i found it. I called around and several places could get it but they wanted an arm and a leg to ship it and install it. I was looking at $500 or more from several auto glass companies. No one could find it locally. I called Able glass in Houston and he said if i could wait 14 days he could get it for $227 and no shipping, but he did not want to do the install on an older car.
You need to determine the NAGS number. The number for the 65-68 vert is DW657GBN. I believe it stands for Domestic Windshield 657 Green w/Blue tint. No one seemed to understand what the Interchange Number was that is listed on this site. They were also able to locate the DW657CLx and they said it is the clear version.
Rust Hole: It looks like the bottom lip that goes over the fence just sits right down and then you work the sides with the booger - is that correct?

Yes, lay the window in the hole and apply a little pressure from the outside while you flip the lip of the seal over the fence. It's actually an easy job- just messy. Whatever an installer charges you, it is money wasted.
