Can the stock throttle and transmission linkages be made to work properly with a performer RPM and Holley style carb? I have read several threads and cannot decipher if I need one of the "adapter" brackets or not. My car is a column shift 440 4bbl new yorker.

I was able to make it work with stock linkages on a Performer RPM 383 and Edelbrock carb. It looked a bit hokey because of the weird angles though, so I later bought one of the tall throttle brackets from AREngineering for this application. With that I found I needed a longer throttle cable.

Unfortunately I don't know the original application of the one I used. It was in my convertible when I bought it and I swapped it out because it didn't open the carb fully when the gas pedal was floored. I modified it to correct that before installing in my hardtop with the ARE linkage.

None of the cables listed in the other thread are available according to my local dodge dealer. I ordered the 24" pioneer one, hopefully it can be made to work.

Got the longer pioneer throttle cable, the taller A.R.E. throttle bracket with bell crank relocation. Now I need a source for the long stud on the carb arm for the kickdown mount. It seems the quick fuel carb mimics the holleys, but the stud forces a bend and up angle in the kickdown linkage to make it all clear. When that is hooked up, the nose of the kickdown linkage hits the base of the air cleaner.
