I just dropped my fuel tank to get it reconditioned and to replace the 5/16th sending unit with a 3/8" one. Well the good news is that the inside of the tank is perfect, no rust, nothing. That will save me about $100. However, nowhere can I find a 3/8" pickup/sending unit for a 73 Fury. Went to a local rad shop and they were reluctant to try to solder in a 3/8" line for fear of damaging the fuel guage reostat. Any suggestions? Has anyone found a fabricator that willl do this? !nope

There have been some C-body 3/8" senders introduced in the last few years. Check the Paddock, Year One, and Ebay. I got a 3/8" unit for my 65 at PartsAmerica.
Don't expect to find a listing for 73, though -- you might have to compare pics of yours to some earlier ones, you might find one that will fit with a little tweaking.
As Butch mentioned, the 68-70 will work,as i have the same in mine and i stuck them both side by side in the vice and they were only out 1/2",so i didn't even touch it! Went right in! Go to these guy's! ROCK AUTO http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php I'll tell you right now you won't find better service anywhere and right now shipping! The one you want is made by Spectra Premium, they are made by us "Good ole Boy's" up here in Canada and they are 1st. class!!! Look for 69' Dodge Charger R/T w/ 440 and look under fuel section, click on the sending unit w/ 3/8" pickup and it comes with, gasket, pickup screen and return vent,so it should work with yours! Model FG68B price $63.79 and you will have it in a few days! Good luck!
You guys are right. I compared mine with a photo of the 68 Charger unit and they look almost identical so I ordered one. I also went to SpectraPremium.com and looked around their website since they manufacture these sending units in Canada. Well, they won't setup to make a run unless it's for 10,000 or more. So, we continue to do the best we can; that's hot rodding, right?
Received the sending unit yesterday. I put it alongside my original and you guys are right, almost a perfect match. I had to make a slight tweak the a bend and it slipped right in. It also came with a gasket and locking collar to boot. Thanks for the advice, merry Christmas.

Okay, It's great that I keep hearing about C body parts for 65-73 (went to find leaf springs and all the listings I can find are leaf spring for 65-73 for example). but what about last gen 74-78? The fuel guage in my 74 is stuck at 1/2 tank and I'm looking for a replacement. Would the B body unit work on the 74? Or am I stuck with rebuilding mine/ finding an NOS one?
I would recommend pulling yours out and comparing it with the picture of one on www.Rockauto.com. They just sent me a discsount code for any part they have. The code is good til March 2009. The code is: 13514911161720. !drive
