I haven't logged onto this site for a little while, but I see there has been alot of new members that have joined up and quite a few seem to have alot of knowledge with these cars, which bring me to my question.....has anybody ever heard of a K engine for a 69 300? I checked the 300 website and it only refers to 440's going in this car (which I prefer). I have been talking to a guy selling a 300 vert and had him read me the vin, and I was surprised when he said "K" which is a 360. Do you guys think this could possibly be a Newport vert disguised as a 300 vert?

According to my 69 service manual the "K" as the fifth digit in the VIN indicates the standard 440 and an "L" is a 440HP. My 69 300 I had was also a "K" and definitely a 440. The 300 vert with standard 440 VIN should read as follows : CM27K9Cxxxxxx [ Edited Fri Nov 02 2007, 07:50PM ]

My bad. I looked on stockmopar.com website and got my info. When I went into the vin decoding section it lists 70 & 71 as K being a 360 2 barrel so I thought 69 would be the same. I knew L was 440 for 69, but didn't know about the K code. Thanks for clearing this up.
