Okay this is driving me crazy ...
I cant figure out how to get to the indicator to check my bulbs and there no aparent way to just pop off the indicator from the fender... my 74 had screws right on it... 1 2 3 easy off.
This is wierd becasue the the signals work and the left indicator occasionally works but the right ones just dead...
I am not familiar with that particular year, but it sounds like they are close to the 69 Fury style. In 69 they attached from under the fender, a complete pain in the neck to deal with. The only way I have successfully changed the bulbs was to REMOVE THE FENDER!! Although it might be possible for someone with really small hands to get into.
The intermitent working is a ground, most likey between the housing of the light and the fender. Again, not a lot of options here since the light needs to be removed to clean the surfaces for better contact.

It looks like a yellow in the pics but its actually more of a cream color, the shots were taken at night before a storm and the digital camera adjusted all the colors to make the pic visible...

I HAVE A 73 NYer ON A 73 THE STAINLESS STEEL TRIM THAT RUNS ALONG THE TOP OF THE FENDERS WILL POP OUT OF THE TOPS OF THE FENDERS USE A SMALL FLAT TIP SCREWDRIVER AND WEDGE BETWEEN TOP OF FENDER AND TRIM AND CAREFULLY POP THE TRIM OFF THE FENDER WHEN THE TRIM IS OFF THERE SHOULD BE A PHILLIPS SCREW THAT HOLDS THE TURN SIGNAL HOUSING ON THE FENDER CHECK FOR CORROSION ON THE BULB SOCKET THAT COULD CAUSE A BAD GROUND.

yea my 74 had the screw on it, it was alot larger easier to see turn signal too... Im going to try the trim popping off thing find out if the 73 and 72s share that trait...
about a year ago when i was searching like made for a replacement nose for my 74 I woulda killed for a front end like on your 77... reminds me so much the 74 NYB. as far as the ground im sure your right becasue the wiring is pretty brittle.
