I have a proper class three (?) hitch from a 66 T&C sitting in my garage, rated to tow 5000 + pounds. It's really big and HEAVY! Square receiver and the whole bit. Must weigh 75 pounds.
It would be the proper hitch for a 68. I can't remember who made it, but it has a sticker on it, and it's a big name company.
I could take measurements and pics for you, and someone could make it up for you easy, I'm sure.... sorry it's not for sale, as it's going on my T&C.

Can you post the measurements here as I'm going to be getting a hitch made for my 67 TC also. Or if there is a manufacturer's part# on that sticker...
2 " square receiver, cross braced, and major welding construction.
It's a heavy pig!
Rated for big loads! If I read it right, a proper trailer with weight distributing characteristics.... up to 10,000 pounds (tongue weight of 1000) I wouldn't tow more than 6,000 with it... trailer and a car sort of thing.
Sorry the pics are so big when you click on them, but I figured you need all the detail you can get!
Here's the sticker:
Here's a pic of the whole thing:
The hitch has all the right bends and angles to fit the rear frame rails properly.
Here's a pic of a side view:
The measurements are as follows:
Centre trunk is 34.75" long. 2.5" square tube, 2" internal dimensions (receiver opening).
There is an angle bend about the middle of the centre trunk, and the front end hang only 4" below the pads. This is presumably to clear the gas tanks on sedans and 2 doors.
The centre trunk of the hitch hangs 6" below the pads.
The pads are NOT level or parallel to each other, as the frame mounting points aren't on these cars at those points.
The width from mounting pad to mounting pad is 37.25".
The length from mounting front to rear mounting pad is 28".
The mounting pad holes are 1/2" in diametre.
The front pad hole is located 1.5" from the front edge, and 1" from the side edge to the centre of the hole.
The rear pad holes (2) are located 1" from the rear edge and 3/4" from the side edge, and are 3.5" centre to centre from each other.
