I prefer the 1st Gen Charger!! I always loved the look and the interior is premium! Four bucket seats and a full console as well as the electroluminescent gauges.
I was crazy about the 2nd gen Charger when it first came out...Loved the styling...but now, I hate all the front overhang they added to make that balanced styling....It's just wasted space! The interior is not much nicer than a run of the mill Coronet of the period
I would rather own a 1st gen Charger too. Among the 2nd gen Chargers though, I would prefer the '69. In that generation, I think it has the best front-end and the best taillights.
I'm happy with all the replies!! I wonder WHAT Primary factor "drove" you to become a Mopar enthusiast?
When I was a young kid in the mid-fifties I was car crazy....I was fascinated by anything different of futuristic. Of course the Forward Look models came out in 57. I was FIVE years OLD and these cars made an impression on me!! They were different and futuristic compared to the other manufacturers at the time....Besides that, my grandpa bought a 57 Plymouth Plaza. It was a pretty basic car; 6 cylinder and Powerflite auto...BUT it was nicer and more interesting than my dad's 50 Chevy...
I always loved that instrument cluster....with the circles and half-filled circles indicating if the fuel tank was full,1/2 or empty.
After that car had well over 100K or even 200K he bought a 61 Belveder coupe. This was a really nice car with 318, p/s and pushbutton Torqueflite.
Then my dad bought the "sainted" 65 Coronet 500 and the whole family fell DEEPLY in love with Mopars.

In the 60's, my God Father always drove Plymouth B body 2 drs. Red with black bucket seats and floor shifter. I was 7 in Sept. of 67 when the Runner came out. He took me for a "Joy Ride". I have been hooked ever since. My favorite charger, a 68. My all time favorite, the 69 Bee. There really isn't a mopar I don't like. Still own several Not at all surprised the late 60 early 70 darts were the pick of the poll.

i would have to say the e bodies really do it for me. a sassy grass green 71 cuda bb with white interior and billboard or a 70 challenger bb with shaker.back in 1981 ,i had a ride in a friends big brothers 70 440 six pack cuda and i was hooked.first car was a beat up 70 plum crazy 383 challenger which i still think is the sexiest car made.i currently have a '15 sublime challenger r/t which kinda cures my challenger fix.not to mention i love my c body.

My dad started me off with Chrysler. He wuz a tool & die maker and did alot uv work for the big 3. (springz, clips, other small formed metal parts) He learned 1st hand that Chrysler wuz serious about quality and engineering. Ford & GM did little or nothing to support vendorz and usually accepted out uv tolerans parts.
I learned to drive in hiz 72 New Yorker Brougham.
Altho my 1st new car, a 79 Plymouth Horizon TC3, wuz a total piece uv junk, my next car wuz a 72 NYB and it ran great till I cracked the subframe.
My father was a Chrysler dealer from 1947 to 1967. Witch model or what year was the best? I have a 1940 Plymouth Pick-Up PT-105, a 1953 Dodge Mayfair, a 1956 Plymouth Savoy, a 1967 Dodge Monaco 500, a 1970 Chanllenger SE 383, a 1972 Road Runner and a 2004 Jeep. Witch one is the best? I don't know, but there is a thing I know...
