I have ordered a new top and well liner for my 66-300-vert. I have not received them yet, but I do have a question about installing the drain tubes. It is obvious how to install the gromet through the deck, but how do the tubes attach to the well liner?

"Tis a good question. I have a 67 300 'vert that leaks and I have been trying to figure out a remedy for almost 2 years now. In 67 they changed from topwell drainage to a trough the just dumps the drain water into the quarter panels (and in my cars case, then overflows onto the floor boards). If someone has any suggestions, I'd be more than happy to hear them!

I like what Jaguar did on the 60's XKE's to drain their trunk jambs....brazed in 7/16" steel tubes (like fuel lines) in the corners of the trunk lid jamb area, and straight down thru the 1/4's to be brazed to the lower 1/4 lip (pinchweld). You could bend up a system and put the water right on the ground thru the rear inner 1/4's......

S-Bob That is a good solution for the 67. What about the 66. I do not have the original top well, so I do not know how they were supposed to be hooked up or connected to the well liner. Were they glued, screwed or tatooed?

My 66 Conv. is now stripped, and the drain tubes go straight down to two holes above the rearend. The top of the drain tube looks to be about a quarter in size, and looks like a mini cicular screen. I have not looked how it seals to the well liner, but my guess it is glued, and then sealed if nessary.

Paul: I have an old piece that looks like a salt shaker top (from the top). Is that what yours looks like?
That drain is the same as mine. My other one is missing as well. By looking at the residue on my drain, it appears to have been inserted through the bottom of the top well and the attached with a black adhesive similar to 3m weatherstrip adhesive.
I assume that there aren't any places to get these. [ Edited Wed May 23 2007, 10:08AM ]
