The 65 is a dual cable shift, which was built from 1963 to 65. It was originally designed for the push button with a park lever. (63 and 64)
The 66 is the same trans except for the shifter being rod driven. The park is acuated internally
If you have a good cable trans and a later car, 66 maybe 67, you could use a 65 column and visa versa.
There is a big NOB at the bottom of the 65 column that houses the cable shifter mech and you have to deal with the cables. It may be they are in the way when running headers. The solution, while expensive, would be go to a 66 column and trans with the mechanical linkage. The other thing you could do is maybe get longer cables and reroute them. OR! Go to a floor shifter if you can fine one.
My bet is that is why they offer from 66 on up.

I never thought out that.... I've haven't been up near the tranny under the car... I'm used to looking at the linkage on my BB Aspen... I'll have a good look when the weather gets better..
Was there any difference in the K-members or suspension etc... from 65 to 68... My buddy said the undercarriage and suspension etc.. was the same in his 70 Fury GT as my 65.... is this true?

I once gave a set of 65 NYKR 413 motor mounts to max wedge racer Jerry Stein ("Teacher's Pet") because he said they were the same as 62-64 max wedge...

NO, NO, NO, 65' is an oddball year for the motor mounts & the tranny mount both. The motor mount on the drivers side wraps around the front of the block & attatches to the boss that isn't usually drilled on later blocks.
The tranny mount is available from Imperial services @ about 70.00 if I remember..
My buddy with the 413 65 NY'r couldn't find a tranny mount anywhere local & from what I could find the one Imperial services has is about it.

ALMOST corrected by Keeentucky again!
I meant the ears on the blocks Butch. Yes there was a difference in between 64 and 66 mounts. Actually, I thought the 65 mounts were better than the later ones.
