Felpro composite at .040 or Mopar steel at .020. The only reason I was thinking steel, is to increase the comp ratio. .020 is good for half a point. I know steel has lasted 40yrs on stock motors ,but are they worth using on a rebuild?

IF YOUR GOING TO DO A BUDGET BUILD LIKE I BROUGHT UP IN A PRIOR POST THE STEEL HEAD GASKET WORKS GREAT. IF YOU ARE GOING TO BUILD A BETTER ENGINE AND HAVE ALL THE MACHINE WORK DONE, YOU WOULD PROBABLY BE BETTER OFF WITH THE FEL PRO. JUST TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE EXTRA THICKNESS OF THE FEL PRO GASKET WHEN YOU PICK YOUR PISTONS ,AND WHEN YOUR MACHINE WORKS BEING DONE.

I bought a kit that has felpro gaskets in it, but $ 20.00 extra is not going to kill the budget for the build. The pistons are 10.47 with the .040 gasket. I sent the block in friday, and orderd everything I could think of. Bake, plugs, bearings, mangaflux, sonic, overbore (with touqe plate), linebore . If I missed anything let me know.
