I tried to decode my fender tag, but unsuccessfully I decoded only a part of it. Can anyone decode it for me? I can post a picture, or send it via mail, PM...
Post a pick and we will have a go at it. Did you decode you're VIN# also..There are also dealler installed items that do not show up on the tag, such as a pass. side mirror, etc.
Have you tried the decoder in the downloads section yet? It isn't very elegant, but seems to be about as accurate as most other sources I have compared it to.
But, you can go ahead and post a picture and a couple of us can take a stab at it.

Only things I see...going from Galens book
Plant code....6 is Newark
K-8 ...I get Power Windows
U-1 ....I get Sold Car / Expedite
The F-6 is really confusing.....in the book it says Police Accesories & codes anywhere from 410-699.....My best guess is code 696 - New car service with 5 gallon of gas. fits with the Sold Car/Expedite & other codes are Police specific and Canada ordered equipment.

Furious, I'm curious; how did you determine 4 bbl HP? G in '66 simply meant 383, of which there were three editions. Or did you add that info after looking at the fender tag?
I checked everything else using Galens book and the American catalog of ID numbers and they show it as Newark, DE. I know Galen doesn't have a lot of love for c-bodies, so I don't know how accurate his white book is when it comes to decoding c-bodies. But it's still the best source I have.
All three of my sources show the 1966 Chrysler 300 383 4bbl 325Hp 10.0:1 comp. as the only avail 383 for the 300. The 1966 Chrysler Newport, however, shows two available 383's. One 9.2:1 2bbl 270 Hp and the 10.0:1 325 Hp. The 1966 New Yorker and Imperial only show 440's as available
Maybe there are some dockers that shed some light on this.
