Are the turn-signal lights in the grille of my 68 Fury supposed to go out when I turn on my headlights? I vaguely remember this subject talked about some time ago; but my memory fails me. I only noticed because I parked in front of a Kum and Go w/a glass front last nite, and saw them turn off as I flipped up to the headlights. They work in Park, and to indicate turns. ???
Second:
How do I tighten up my goshforsaken rearview mirror? It is loose and just rolls around in it's little ball-stud mounty-thing. (Highly technical term there, I know). Super-Glue? New mirror? Deal with it Matt!?!
Thanks, it's been a HOOT driving to work and back; just tends to bring out the jillion little "need fixin's" if you know what I mean.
I think if you take the mirror down, you'll see that the ball pivot has a small plate of spring steel that wears against it to hold it in place. You may just need to put something under the steel piece to give it more friction. A piece of matchbook cardboard may do the trick.
Not sure on the parking lights, I'd like to know, too, as I'll be getting my Fury road ready in the next month or two.

The park light do go out when the headlights are turned on. Polaraco has a trick where you can jump a wire from park to headlights at the switch if you want them on all the time with the headlights.
Is your mirror a remote one? (adjust from door panel?) or a manual one (roll down window and adjust)???

The rearviews in the carusually have a screw you can tighten to get the ball snug against the plate again, all mine have just needed tightening.....If the plate has lost its tension to the point where the screw can't tighten far enough you might be able to bend the plate a bit to get it back, dosen't take much. I think it would be flattening the plate so it contacts the ball before you run out of acrew would do it.
On Manual outside mirrors where you can't get them apart &the bal is just slightly loose against the spring plate you can take a center punch & "Peen" the ball as far around it as you can get by moving the mirror around & it'll hold then.

I beleive 1970 was the first year of the manditory lighting of the parking lights, but it might have been '69. It was a Federal mandate that they do it, just like side-marker lights on '68 and newer.

It was 1969. We used to use it as an "early warning" at night that a cop car might be approaching. Remember cops always had the newer cars back then so if we saw the parks on with the headlights we'd knock off whatever mischief we might've been up to. !stop
My 68 Fury doesnt light the parks, my 69 Chrysler does.
