But there are Saginaws that have the nut, My Dart has a 70' Saginaw pump off a Duster & it has the nut. It's probably a .94 pump not a 1.02? I forget without looking.
Now, the Fury has the press-on. I never researched which got the nut & which got predded. Might be interesting to see what determined it. I just never paid that much attention.
And yes, before you ask I do know the difference between a Federal & a Saginaw LOL! Federal=round neck Saginaw=oval neck. I've got one old Federal pump & three Saginaws in stock. Might have to go look at 'em.

Or based on what you just said, it's a A, B, or C thing. I know the C could use a little less boost. Steering seems to be a tad too easy vs. the B. MMMMM Interesting. Maybe we should look into that. Since the A and B Bods have the same mounting brackets, and we know the exterior of the boxes boxes are the same, I wonder if we put a A body (I think you're right on the .94) if it would reduce the assist?

I'll tell ya what made the biggest difference in my Fury.....getting a Steer N' Gear StageIII box! Firmed it right up, kinda like a newer car. I'm still running the Stock PS pump that's always been on the car too.
Not the cheapest fix but well worth it! I think it was 269.00 +ship. I just dropped it off at the Nats at their trailer & it was back in a couple of weeks.
Tha't what we just got the same thing for my Buddy's 66 Belvedere too so he can convert back to PS. That's what we sent in the C-bod box in for. I think I found him a PS crank pulley in stock upstairs ( NEVER throw anything away! ) & the Fury that donated the box has the PS Pump & brackets/hoses. Steer N' Gear also told him how much to cut the steering shaft to fit the longer PS box, Got a new rebuild kit for the coupler too.
Anyway....I think that make much more of a difference than a PS pump change ever would. With all the frontend fresh she's pretty responsive to Steering wheel input now! Course the 14" steering wheel has less leverage too!

Yeah I know. . . I was putting the customizing under my butt on the engine. That's about the only place I wanted to customize. Someday I am going to want to sell this. . . . I have a 62 New Yorker being groomed as a daily somewhere in Oregoonie land. The guy that was doing the refurb, died. So there it sits. Sigh. 2 years now and I have only sat in it twice.
In Johns case, the pump is the answer. I just thought I could make it happen for $35. vs. $275 if you know what I mean. That's a rebuilt box in there now!

I hear ya on that! I know it's expensive! I just had the whole car apart anyway & couldn't see not doing it...I'm glad I did. Makes it more enjoyable to drive. And also, It ain't going anywhere. Unless Momma okays it LOL.
I think the pump swap would be worth a try though. Not to hard to do & would be interesting to see if it made any difference. I know we've swapped pumps over the years without much regard for whether they were .94's or 1.02's & I just never saw much difference. But then I wasn't really looking for any. Usually just repairing a leaking pump or such.
I wonder if the FSM has pressures for each listed? Might give some answers?
Gotta go get to work.....Got a Demon hollering for me to come & finish it!
