I'm not wired that way. I'm not a perfectionist either but why do it twice or be unhappy with the results?
Some stuff is worth twice. Work on it enough to move it under it's own power... If you sell, it will be easier if it can at least drive onto a carrier. 383L... is that 2bbl or 4? If 2bbl and you have visions, dream of the build and watch for a sound replacement to happen... they do once in a while.
Think of this, if it did meet your "standards" you'd probably wind up married to the factory build. This one can eventually sport that plaid interior you always wanted, and nobody could say you hurt the car (maybe wasted money...)

You might have read my vision on page 1 or 2. A 71 Polara parts car would benefit me greatly, a four door sedan would be fine. If I do this wagon, not much will be original. I would do it my way but I can't cover up surface rust without addressing it. Stuff like that will gnaw at me.
