I really wonder why that color wasn't more popular back in the day. There were so many green, tan and brown ones built. I guess people didn't want to be noticed back then.

Turquoise seems to have been popular in the fifties and the early sixties. My guess is that the hotness/fad had passed by fusie time. It's one of my favorite colors, which makes it a bummer -- very few ordered in the color.
Edit: well, I got managed to snag one, my favorite fish with black buckets, too
