I hav a Demon carb on my 440 and usually, if I want to accelerate I need to goose the pedal a lttle first, otherwize it will bog if I stomp on it. Depending on how well it likes the weather that day, it mite take off well.
I'v never been an expert at tuning a carb, but I think the accelerator pump iz the most important component for good respons. Any tips woud be appreciated.
I expect your accellerator pump is similar to a regular 4 bbl. On my AFB, the pump is a little vertical rod and horizontal pivot lever at the corner. The rod goes into one of three holes in the pivot lever, typically the middle hole. The hole closest to the pivot gives the most pump shot, and the furthest gives the least. Put the rod closer to the pivot to bump up the pump shot. Should improve the bog .

My Fury did the "bog" from birth and I spent bunch of time and dollars trying to get rid of it. If I mashed it from a dead stop, the engine would usually load up and stall. My work around was to give it half gas and wait until it hit about 5 mph then mash it.
Over the years I had the carb rebuilt numerous times, replaced once and adjusted enough to wear out the screws.
When the car was restored in 2013-14, the engine was rebuilt and I bought an Edelbrock Performer Series 750 CFM Carburetor with Electric Choke. Well, I was more than a bit PO'd to discover I still had the bog and it was a bear to get a smooth idle. We phoned Edelbrock and the service tech said we had two problems, first, the 750 was too much carb for my basically stock 440 build and my mechanical fuel pump pressure was probably too high. So I bought an Edelbrock Performer Series 600 CFM Carburetor with Electric Choke and a fuel line pressure regulator. With the fuel pressure set at 4.5 lbs and the carb with pretty well at out of the box settings, my bog was gone!
I was amazed, I had always assumed the bog was caused by "not enough" while in fact it seems it was really a "too much to fast" situation. My guess is a stock 440 doesn't flow well at low RPM.
