Hey guys just been wondering what kind of power you can get from a stock cam bore and stroke 440 by just putting on aftermarket heads, manifold headers etc. I am aware that the latters will get you about 60-70 horsepower
Thinking about doing something different than a cam swap or forced induction

there used to be both 383 and 440 'from mild to wild' articles that rebuilt them to OEM, dyno, add headers, dyno, intake/carb, dyno, cam. They were great reads but I can't find the 440 one googling

600 hp but stroke it and 700 hp is achievable with the Trick Flo 270 heads. The heads assembled are under $2500 and are a major bargain. Out of the box they are CNC ported. I personally would not run a stock block at 700 hp but some do with a girdle. I would not push a stock block past the low 600 hp range.
I have a set of the Trick Flos on order for my new build.

I agree all the above will add a measurable amount of power. Being a 4 barrel and twice pipes help a lot. Some distributor tweaking helps more. Etc. etc. etc.
I just don't see a reason to keep the old cam and lifters once you have the heads and intake off. By that point, cost is negligible. Especially since the right cam swap in a totally stock motor will produce some nice results. Might as well change the timing chain too, at this point it will become the weak link. Oh, and then the oil pump. Becomes a slippery slope huh? Kinda like how new heads make the rings the next thing to go.
I've been looking at the hooker super comps, Holley strip dominator and not sure about the heads, been eyeing up the stealths from 440source. I completely rebuilt the engine 20ish thousand miles ago so I'm not worried about that.
