Would LOVE sequential LED's for a '66 300! (hint-hint!!!)
You may be in luck! I've been doing some LED experimenting and research in a '66 Newport taillight. Figured I'd resurrect this thread instead of starting a new one. I tried installing two oval lights similar to the one that 300Rag put in his taillight housings. I reverse-engineered the circuit board and I think I could mod it to separate the lights into segments for 4-segment sequential signals. I still don't like the look however. When the taillights are on you can still see two oval shapes shining through the lens. (Reminds me of an 87-88 T-bird with rectangular lenses, but round lights when you turned them on. I never liked that look either.)
I searched around online and found a product called "Digi-Tails". A bit pricey but they have the coolest sequential effect on the turn signals. (Chevk the videos in the links below!) If I designed and built something like this for myself, I'd probably have to spend almost as much money just in parts cost. Their kits are application-specific, and I have little hope that they'd do one for 1966 Chryslers. However, there are a couple that look like they could be made to fit my housings without much effort. The 1966 Chrysler housings are basically rectangular in shape, 2-1/4" tall and 14" wide. I think either one of these would work:
When I pull the trigger on this, I'll probably go with the Camaro ones because they're easier to buy. They're available from amazon.com and Classic Industries for less than the manufacturer's online store, and Classic Industries often has discount codes too.
