I purchased the complete set of window sweeps for my 67 Polara Convertible from Steel Rubber Products. Not thrilled with the quality considering it was almost $260 for the set with shipping.
My question is about the inner sweeps which attach to the top of the door panels.
The factory sweeps which are on the car are attached vial metal clips which look a little like staples which come out of the back of the sweeps and through the top metal part of the door panel.
The new sweeps from Steel Rubber Products have a smooth back and it appears that they are designed to be attached using adhesive.
The problem is that the sweep locks the vinyl door panel material to the door panel. The only way to use adhesive would be to glue the sweep directly to the vinyl material of the door panel. The vinyl would also have to be glued to the door panel so you do not have a very good attachment system. Sweep glued to vinyl glued to metal.

That is certainly not the way the factory did it.
Am I missing something?
How have others done this?
Thanks.
Working on these window sweeps a little more and I figured out what is goin on.
The sweeps are in fact stapled to the metal top part of the door panels.
The staple goes through the sweep and then through the metal part of the door panel.
Pretty tough staples.
At least I know what to do. Now it is figuring out how.

I used 1/8" rivets on the inner sweeps on my '65 300 'vert. I had to clamp the sweep to the door panel so I could drill holes through the sweep and panel at the same time. I used Cat Whiskers as well.
