I've had a new Explorer rad, hoses, and HV pump sitting in the corner for years, waiting for the now 47-year-old original unit in the '71 New Yorker to finally give up the ghost.
It'll probably be getting low on coolant next year. Maybe I'll just do it then, whether it needs it or not.
I sertainly woud hav prefered the stock configuration, but thats the only unit that came up for 72 NY at Summit. Its only 285$ - way less than the 800$ you'd be parting with for a new brass & copper unit. Therez actually a used stock radiator on Ebay now at 99$ starting bid, but I wanted to get away frum the corrosion-prone copper.
The most work wuz the tranz cooler linez. I had sum 5/16 industrial stainless tubing, but not enuf. I also had several lengths uv 3/8, so I silver brazed the 5/16 into the endz uv the 3/8. I had to make a bender, kuz the chintzy pot metal bender broke kuz the tubing wuz too stiff for it.

Well good work, it turned out nice. The main thing is it does it's job. My 68 will be needing one as well and I do like the cross-flow. I was gonna look in the bone yard but like the idea of a new unit.
