When I was a teenager, I “hot rodded” my car – throwing out a lot of original parts in the process. I regret almost everything I did, and I’m looking to put the car back to stock. This is not a “California” model with the air pump.
My first goal is to return the fuel system to the year 1972, and I am staring with the engine intake. I have the original 2bbl manifold, I am almost positive that I have the factory exhaust manifolds on the engine, and have purchased a replacement Holley 2210 [R-6164A], but everything else is lost to time. I need (at least):
Air cleaner and related parts (hoses, thermostat/sensor, vacuum diaphragm, etc) Manifold Heat Control Valve Divorced choke parts Heated Air Inlet System parts (a metal shield and a hose?) Throttle brackets, springs, washers, clips, etc. Metal fuel line from pump to carb
After returning all of the systems to factory condition I would like to try and tune the whole mess to run well. Any leads on parts or websites are appreciated.
Also, if anyone has any photos of 360 engines from 1972, vintage or restored, that would be a big help. Swap meets and Ebay have a lot of stuff, but I can't always tell what to get. I have already wasted some money and time buying incorrect parts.
I don't know how often this happens, but I found EVERYTHING since my last post. Lessons learned: dad is smarter than I am...and clean out your garage.
Runs and drives, in theory. I backed it out of the garage a couple of times this month. Other than that, it hasn't seen much pavement in the last ten years.
I was so proud of this mess. Back in the day, I pulled the original engine and replaced it with a kit from P.A.W. (rest in piece, http://www.pawengineparts.com/). A stock crank moves some slightly larger pistons. I estimated 371 cubes when I built it. It has done a lot of driving on a D.U.I distributor, but I'm not going to be using that anymore because I can't fit the stock air cleaner and the DUI at the same time. Current carb is a 750 Edelbrock. Talk about no vacuum for brakes.
Parts parts parts!
That factory manifold crossover is totally carbon sealed. Anyone running factory manifolds without blocking the passage should take the manifold off every few years for service. Mine had probably been on since new.
This choke mechanism doesn't look like any replacement parts I've seen. I'll try to use this one, but any leads on the correct part are appreciated.
I cut the original metal fuel line when I put on a 780 Holley back in the 90s...*shudder*...one or both of these fragments might be the original. I'll be using rubber hose in the mean time, but any leads on a replacement...
Umm...Where did this come from? I think one of my uncles used to chain-smoke dutchmasters, but the whole family used those boxes for various things. I don't recognize more than a couple tools in there.
