1971 Fury swapped in a decent built 383. Had a set of long tubes that were for my old 69 Polara. Driver side fits like a champ... suddenly I have a fitment issue with the passenger side. Front and rear cylinders have studs for mounting the headers... the front of the header catches on the front stud. The back of the headers hit the bottom of the rear studs, and no matter how I swing it, lift that side of the motor... the rear hits the tranny pan just barely.
Th headers honestly looks like it should fit fine... but the main question, and I studied lots of threads long ago, seemed that passenger side was never the issue, drivers side always is...
Advice?
I have a set of center dump truck manifolds I could put on the motor, but no correct for C-body manifolds...
HP manifolds and call it a day,,,,today's cars are gonna beat ya anyways. The fact it is alive is good enough unless you got gobs of money. Those easy days are gone. My opinion only.
Pitched a couple HP manifolds a few years ago. Was going to replace 'em, but they always crack. So headers it was. Never had an issue with fitting the head, I am in about 50 thou of the transmission pan too. I'll make room someday. 440 and hookers. No blow though..

I looked again today, I think pulling the studs and changing pan will give me the room. I have my stepside with a 727 I can just swap pans. Will update

sometimes the studs gotta come out and swap for bolts in the tight bends or make studs just short enough to catch the stud.if tubes too close to pan just use a portapower and push them over .they will bend

It IS awesome... you mean I can just jam that end in, and bend the header?!? You sir are my hero (and there is no sarcasm here, I never dreamed of such a device... my god, the things I could do with that!! Now I know what makes Batman awesome!)
