My 440 has a big gash in the middle of the cylinder no 6 Do not know how this has happened.I have talked to the machine shop and was told that to put in a sleeve you have to replace the cylinder next to it. And with the cost it would be better to get another block. My motor was done by muscle motors years ago I don't have a spare 440 but I do have the 413 that I took out years ago.I want to stroke the next motor.I was wondering do I get another 440 block or do I use my 413

I am pretty sure that I have seen a block with just one sleeve in it.
There is not much that you can do with a 413 because they stopped making them so long ago so parts are scarce and because of the very small piston diameter/displacement so most people do not rebuild them. Even good pistons are difficult to find. If you bore your 413 just over 60 thou over you get to the same bore as a stock 383 (and stock 454!!!!) so you could potentially do something with 383/454 pistons but that would be a tough route to go and with a really big over bore.
There are pretty good looking (on paper) stoker kits available for 383 engines now which would be the easiest/cheapest block to get your hands on if you want to go the stroker route.

With that logic the only possible solution would be to sleeve the whole bank and that`s simply not true. You need to find a different machine shop.
