Since they dont make a direct fit for the 65 Fury Gas Tank, has anyone discovered a B-Body tank that fits correctly? The 65 Has the fuel filler door on the left Quarter Panel, it would be nice if the correct one was reproduced, the later C-Body tanks dont fit very well.

Does it have to be original? Have you thought of having one made? Streetrod guys have them made to fit any apllication. What is wrong with yours, rusted out?

Thr 65 Fury is a one year only design with the filler on the left quarter panel. A good friend of mine went through this same dilema a year ago. He had to get one custom made for his 4 speed Sport Fury. Luckily for him his brother is a metal fabricator & he did a beautiful job. We were all over Carlisle 2 years ago talking to countless vendors & no one makes a replacement tank for the 65 model year. Best of luck in your search for one. Have you tried any of the Southern or Western salvage yards? Try Murray Park, located in Tiffin Ohio. cbodies.com
I just went through the same hell with my 65 Fury and ended up getting one shipped from MO for $400 - ouch. Recently found a great Mopar guy locally - he has a few Furys (if you need other stuff as well), do not know if he ships but I think so.

Yep, the 65 Fury tank is a 1-year, 1-car deal, I doubt anyone would ever reproduce it.
I've heard 68-69 B-body tanks fit, but they are 19 gal ILO 24 (tank is narrower, I believe). Make sure to get one from a Belv/Sat/RR, as the charger tanks have a side-fill. 66-67 B-body has a tank that wraps around the spare tire well, so that's a no-go. Check pics before you buy.
If I had to buy one, I'd look at a 66 Fury tank and either modify my rear bumper for a drop-down license plate (I'm 98% sure the 65 Fury has the hole in the panel behind the bumper, even though it wasn't used), or get the nipple from the old tank put on the new one (and the other hole filled) at a radiator shop. People always said radiator shops could do that, but I've never verified. And do radiator shops still exist??? Those are surely going to be disappearing as time goes on!
I'm so glad to have a spare tank - although I don't really need a spare tank for a project car I haven't driven in 20 years.

From what I've seen, the lengths of the 65-68 tanks are the same, but with some differences in bottom profile, which may or may not require the straps to match.
I don't know how close 65 Fury is to 65 Chrysler, but the side fill is a huge difference.

I suppose all things considered, if there were a "steel" tank out there somewhere of the same dimensions or a bit smaller, the rear fill tube could be welded up and a side fill tube welded in. After years of mill wrighting I can say with certainty that welding galvanized is near impossible. If the frustration doesn't get you, the fumes will. On a more imformative note, never use the gas tank sealer from "you know who". If there is the slightest bit of methanol in the gas, it will disolve the sealer or break the bond to the tank walls and get all over in the fuel system. Read the reviews on their site and the specs on their product.
