Yep, what Twisted said. I had a fun ride after my DS mount broke, the engine twisted up and yanked on the throttle cable, resulting in some "unintended acceleration".
I bought the MagMount from Mancini. This installs on the drivers side, because that's the side that twists up when accelerating going forwards. IIRC, the kit comes with two mounts, but the passenger side is a standard mount.
I use the Schumaker "Magnum Poly-Locs", they work fantastic, esp. when you've got over 400 hp tweaking on the mounts. The bolt through ones from Mancini will work well too. [ Edited Thu Apr 08 2010, 02:29AM ]
Ditto on all the above. I bought just the drivers Magnum mount and have a $10 parts store mount on the passenger side. 5 yrs later the 440 is still sitting pretty. They are pricey, but worth it.
I don't have a problem with my motor mounts now, but all this talk has got me wodering if and when they will fail now. I would rather not have it go out on me on the highway and shred the fan shroud and such. Can just the drivers side be changed easily? Also, I assume one would have to put a jack under the engine to lift it up on the one side. Where is the best place to put that jack? I heard that you just need to put it directly under the oil pan, but that idea almost makes me cringe. Can't believe this is one thing I have never done yet...
I lifted the front of my motor with a hoist.X10 on the cheap twilight zone replacement mounts.I broke 2 in a week just driving easy. They aren't worth the effort to install.absolute trash and I should have known when they were 2 for $10.
