There's more to shocks than just their range of operation.
The Mustang II was a wimpy @ss car... Do you really want to install shocks ment for those cars on a fullsize car?
The Mustang II was, but that front suspension is often used in many hot rods, and race cars, so there's lots of support for customization and racing for that front end.

The O.P. did not say he wanted to install the Mustang suspension. He is wanting to install just the shocks. I would say it is probably a good idea if they fit. It is not at all uncomon to use light duty shocks in a H.P. car. The reason is to allow the front end to unload quickly puttng th weight on the drive wheels for better traction. I would say go ahead with it and let us know how it works out. Remember this is for racing (performance forum) and may not be so desirable for a street cruiser.
