Hello all, I got the previous issues figured out (timing was out, accel superstock coil was leaking oil, and replaced the ECM) but now I'd like to explain what my car was doing before I replaced the pushrod.
1: car would start fine when cold but once after it was warmed up the slow idle would mess up at times.
2: (The big one!) after driving the car for awhile and got things good and hot it would act like it had vapor-lock when I shut it down and tried to restart it, it would fire but it would take a lot of cranking.
3: when cruising, whenever I floored it the engine would hesitate bad before the engine built up RPM (the kickdown not working doesn't help I'm sure).
I removed the pushrod and looked it over, nothing abnormal, however it was approximately .020 short and on the sides just before each end tapers down it was out of round by about .001, I installed this one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/hrs-92152/overview/, and these problems have gone away. However, whenever I floor it the engine takes a second to build rpms it doesn't miss or chug, just acts like it's governed, gonna rehook the tach and see what it does (any ideas on that?).
If it wasn't for the threads I've read on here about this I never would've thought about that, awesome site. But I wanted to share my experiences with this as well.

I have been having similar issues with my 64 Crown. The fuel pump is new but not the push rod. I am going to install an electric fuel pump to see if that helps.
I like the idea of the electric fuel pump because you get a little extra security if you install a hidden on off switch.
Thanks for the post and pushing me towards acting instead of just thinking about it.
