Man, I'm glad she went to a good home! What a story. It's amazing that somebody at the school didn't just take the easy way out and send it to the scrapyard.
I remember watching this a couple of years ago and drooling. LOL
This is a great looking car. Congrats to the fellow who bought it; may he have endless enjoyment in driving it every summer!
I attended a trade school in Wisconsin to get my degree in automotive mechanics back in the 1970s and they had a car that had been donated by General Motors for a similar reason. We had endless fun in wrenching on that thing. It was a 1973 Chevrolet Impala 4-door hardtop which had had an argument with a freeway overpass while it was being transported to the dealer in Green Bay that ordered it. The roof was opened like a tin of sardines. Needless to say, the dealer didn't want it nor did GM which wrote it off by donating the car to the school. I expect the company removed the VIN number so it couldn't be sold but anything is possible given enough time. I do remember the body shop class that went through the school in 1974 repaired the roof and put a new windshield in it. It actually looked pretty good.

That is quite the find. Given that the incredibly low mileage is a unique part of the car and its history, I don't blame him for trailering it to shows. If I owned something like this, one trip to Chryslers at Carlisle and back would double the current odometer reading!

Great story! That dealership is only an hour and a half from where I live. Love hearing about those time capsule "barn finds"! Guess it's the history major in me!

By a large margin, these are my favorite fuselage C-bodies.
Very interesting story, even better than the stationwagon owned by John Lenon. And a great bunch of photos. I like the last one with the truck art in the background the best.
