Once, under the hood of a '77 NYB, I found a large mount of peanuts, everywhere on the intake. Not sure if it was an animal or human interference though...
Anyway, after the cleaning, it was a great driver!
I have some very expensive fishing rods (12 summer rods and 10 ice fishing rods....i know...it's a discese) and a few years ago while putting the ice rods away and pulling out the bigger one.....the friggin' squirrels or mice were chewing the cork handles. I went on a rampage and set up poison, traps etc. then stored them differently so it will never happen again. I put a bunch of bounce dryer sheets in the car for storage and so far no problems. Here's an awesome article form Hagerty the insurance people. Also if you put out some cork plugs from the wine bottles they will eat the cork, but it will not digest so it's only a matter of time before they get sick and die. http://www.hagerty.ca/articles-videos/Articles/2009/12/02/Tips-to-Keep-Mice-out-of-Stored-Cars

The dryer sheets work great. After having some mouse damage in one car I have been using them for years now and have not had a problems in probably 10 yrs plus. I tell every one about it. I just leave them in the car year round.
